Welcome to us at Nettbureau!

Here’s an introduction to a couple of things that are good to know before you start, or if you’re curious about how our work culture is.

This guide gives you a snapshot of our culture, values and benefits we offer.

If reading the whole guide is too long, then just note these important things:

  • You’ll have a standard work week, with flexibility to structure your day and possibility to work from home.
  • Lots of snacks and drinks available at the office.
  • Fun and social activities, such as yearly kick-off and monthly payday drinks.
  • Development fund of 10 000 kr per year.
  • A competitive gross annual salary and a 5 % pension contribution on top.

Trust, freedom and responsibility

We believe in trust, freedom and responsibility which make us develop, perform and thrive.

With a flat structure, we believe everyone brings something unique to the table.

Therefore, you’ll have room to try different things and to find out what you want to work on and become good at. You should be able to work with what you feel ready and motivated for. No one is going to control your workday in detail.

Be kind

We thrive best when there’s mutual respect and an open heart, where laughter comes easily.

Diversity is important for us. Different opinions are important for development, both on a personal level and in a work context.

Everyone should have equal opportunities regardless of gender, skin color, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disabilities, age, personality and background.

We have zero tolerance for discrimination and harassment or any other form of disrespectful behavior.

No blame game

Everyone makes mistakes. Whether it's taking down a website, writing something wrong or developing a product that doesn't work. Nobody will point fingers if something goes wrong.

We appreciate learning from mistakes, whether it was you or your colleague who gave us the opportunity.

Work-life balance and flexibility

Flexibility

We offer flexible working hours, and you’re free to choose when you want to work your hours for the week.

Part of the job consists of various projects and collaborations, which occasionally means meetings.

We expect you to be flexible and available to participate in this when necessary.

Home office

Most people find it both pleasant and efficient to work from the office, but some days it’s better working from home.

You can work up to 8 days per month from home. Or in your away office.

Maybe you want to work from the cabin or at home with in-laws in Japan? That's fine, just remember to check a few things first:

1 Check with those you work closely with. We want to be flexible and accommodate everyone, but sometimes we need you in the office.

2 Make sure you have a good internet connection where you are. You must work the same as a normal working day, even if it happens at a distance.

3 Remember to log in to Slack. Let it be easy to get in touch with you, and let us know if you will be logged out during the day.

4 Double check that you have not been on duty for support or development, and in that case you must make sure that someone else takes your watch.

5 If you know in advance that you’ll have a home office, add it to the Google Calendar. Also inform the others to make it easier to plan.

The office

At the office we do a lot together: Meet daily to work, eat and do social activities. We want you to feel at home and take good care of it.

You’ll get a desk, but feel free to use other seating around the premises, whether it’s on the sofa in the social area, in a quiet room or on a duffel bag.

We have snacks, coffee and drinks available throughout the day, especially when the post-lunch dip hits.

With a lounge designed for social gatherings we do our Friday quiz, watch the Olympics, the World Cup or anything else you’d like to watch with the perfect amount of popcorn.

When the sun’s out, we sometimes migrate to the rooftop for a small ice cream break.

We also have offices in Oslo, Stockholm and Skien. With the same office structure with a social area, we’ve plenty of room to hang out after work.

Other perks

Here's some other perks you'll have when you work with us:

Fun and social

We like to hang out and be social together after work. Some months we celebrate payday with after work drinks («lønningspils»), and once in a while we host a game night.

A few times during the year we gather for a team building activity, such as Escape Room, beer tasting or mini golf.

And once a year we have a kick-off where everyone gathers together for professional and social activities.

Pension

We love to invest in our employees and have chosen to increase this saving to 5 % of gross annual salary. This percentage is on top of your ordinary salary.

Development fund

With a development fund of 10 000 kr per calendar year, you’ve the possibility to keep your knowledge up to date, be inspired and motivated.

You’re free to use this fund as you wish on courses, conferences, gym membership or other equipment that’s relevant in a work context.

Broadband and mobile subscriptions covered

Along with giving you the equipment you need to get things done, we also cover your broadband and mobile subscriptions. Even though these are taxable benefits, it helps you stay connected.

1 hour paid workout time

We know keeping physically active is important. Whether you do yoga, like lifting weights or smashing squash balls towards the wall, you can use 1 hour of your work time to do so.

Salary reviewing

Every February we review everyone’s salary to ensure fairness and market competitiveness. Your salary will be reviewed even though you’re on leave.

Holidays, time off and leave policies

As far as possible, we want flexibility for all and everyone to take holiday whenever we want. Nevertheless, it’s desirable that we always are staffed during holiday seasons to maintain our services.

Paid days off in addition to your vacation days

Holidays in Norway and Sweden are mainly related to Christian holidays. If you’d rather take time off in connection with other religious holidays, you're completely free to do so.

You decide whether you want to take time off on the standard red days, or work some of them to take time off on other days.

Parental, adoption and surrogacy leave

Whether you’re expecting, adopting or welcoming a child through surrogacy, we’re supporting all parents.

We’re covering your leave competitively when you’re on parental leave so you can focus on your new family addition and let us sort out the rest.

Returning to work after parental leave

When you return after leave, you have 2 hours of breastfeeding time per day until the child turns one year old, or starts kindergarten.

This means that you get full pay, and a two-hour shorter working day. You choose whether you want to spend less time in the office or breastfeed during the day.

If you want to reduce your position after the end of parental leave, that's fine. We have no time limit for how long you can have a reduced workload. Talk to us and we’ll find a solution that will be good for everyone.

Sick leave

You have up to 12 self-certified sick days per year. And if your child is sick, we have no limits of sick days you can take to take care of your child. We trust you to balance work and family.

Unpaid leave

Since we want flexibility for all employees, it should in principle be unproblematic to arrange leave.

Apply well in advance and it’ll be easier for everyone to plan.

Paid leave

If you want to take paid leave beyond your 25 vacation days, this can be earned in advance of the leave by working beyond your normal work week. Remember to record the hours you work extra, so that you can document the hours you have earned.
